Sweet Casual Style Beauty Favorites

I grew up never really wearing a lot of make up and spent too much time in the sun! So, I had the sun-kissed look most of the time and over the years, I have learned to take better care of my skin and hair (remember sun-in? yeah, I did that too!) . . . Fast forward to now, I am in my (dare I say it) late 40’s and there are some products I cannot live without. I am happy to share my entire skin routine, but for this post I want to share my absolute favs when it comes to skincare, make-up, scent and hair tools.

Every single day, I use teami green tea facial scrub . . . you can feel the exfoliation and hydration too. I also use their clay masks and every single day my skin is glowing after using their products! The goop glow is another great - what I will call super exfoliant - it’s super gritty and you really need to scrub to get it off but that is somehow really satisfying to me! I want to scream from the roof tops about the simple brand eye make-up remover pads. I have VERY sensitive eyes and these are exactly what they say on the package, kind to your eyes! I love them and I use them every night and every morning prior to putting in my daily contact lenses. I swear by them.

Now, anyone who knows me, knows I love to be tan. In the summer, I am soaking up the sun but for every other season, my go-to bronzer is NARS laguna. The best ever! I wear it and people ask me how am I tan!?? To compliment the bronzer, I have been using “the multiple” (also by NARS) FOR YEARS which is a cream-to-powder multipurpose stick for the cheeks, lips and eyes! I wear the color, g-spot but it comes in multiple shades! It’s truly the best! The Revive renewal serum targeted vertical line helps hydrate and plump the skin around the lip area - diminishes the appearance of any aging lines, it’s like magic!! It feels so good on your lips.

I am always someone who likes to smell good - one of my favorites (I know you aren’t surprised) is Beach by Bobbi Brown - it smells EXACTLY LIKE THE BEACH!! I need to admit, I use expensive hair products, my favorites are Oribe and Kerastase. This Oribe lightweight gold lust hair oil controls any fly-aways and omg, you guys, smells like heaven. and only $38 - great for travel too and lasts a long time. I sometimes use it on my skin. I also have their hair and body oil and their Cote D’Azur Eau De Parfum. Soooooo good!

Finally and last but not least! This wand and hair dryer/brush/volumizer are LIFE CHANGERS! The wand makes the perfect beach waves (ok, how many times did I say beach in this post, lol?!) and it is the easiest to use, trust me! I am happy to answer any questions you have and let me know if you are interested in more product info! Everything is linked for you under MENU/SHOP MY STYLE or at this link!

As always, thank you for being here and reading along! More to come!

XO, Corry

Working From Home in Style

It is amazing to think that it’s almost been a year since we have been working remotely . . . many of us have been trying our best to work in our homes or if you are an essential worker, I am personally grateful for the work you do, no matter what field! One of things that has been tough with 3 kiddos homeschooling on and off, 2 active doodles and with both Brian and I at home, is finding the space for all of us to be productive, without killing each other, LOL! My family maaaaaaay say I am a bit too loud when I get excited on the phone working! Ok, guilty!

Having said all that, I really wanted to create a functional space in my formal living room that frankly doesn’t get much love or use. I knew I wanted my own home office space, that was MINE and not in the dining room or kitchen island or bedroom - you know what I am talking about! So, here it is, my own desk wall that has these beautiful shelves that surround me with beautiful pieces I curated from many of my favorite local CT shops.

Loving my new work from home space . . . shop this wall desk here!

Each piece was selected with this space in mind. I wanted beautiful, coastal pieces that had hints of spring soon to come around the corner. In my design, you will always find natural elements integrated in each space, whether it’s greenery (succulents are easy and carefree, because I do not have a green thumb!) or a candle with an amazing scent to again, make you feel as if you are someplace else, even while you work!

Here is where to get the goods!

  • Basket, sand timer, frame and mini vases are all from Bunglaow Decor out of Westport, CT

  • Mini gray tray and hanging shells are from my friend Heidi’s shop Bel Mondo also in Westport but you can also shop online!!

  • The beautiful plants, preserved star pod and candle are from Terrain where you can also shop online!

  • My favorite U vase is from one of my favorite shops all the way in California but they have an amazing shop online and on Instagram - the gorgeous The Garage Collective

  • The Ocean Sand Art was given to me as a birthday gift last week by a close friend of mine who knows me very well! You can also find this great gift for someone or for yourself at Uncommon Goods.

  • The coolest driftwood whales are made locally in Fairfield, CT by The Dark & Stormy Drift Co. They also ship and will create custom signs made from local driftwood from Long Island Sound.

Surround yourself with happiness and beautiful things that make you smile. I hope this does for you just as much as it has for me. It’s the little things these days . . . XO Corry

The Sweet Casual Style Kitchen

Our kitchen is my happy place!  We knew we wanted to renovate our kitchen but had no idea we would be taking down a wall and doing it all in the middle of a pandemic.  We were working from home and decided to be our own general contractor on this project and made it happen safely and I think it all came out just as we dreamed.

I designed the kitchen knowing I wanted an open, white kitchen with a mix of glass cabinets and floating shelves.  Originally, I wasn’t going to do any upper cabinets but as you can see, we ended up with a great balance.

I chose beautiful hardware from SCHOOLHOUSE and I could not be happier.  The number one question I get on Instagram is about the hardware.  The quality and service of this company is unmatched and I highly recommend.  These pulls are the Edgecliff pull in natural brass.  For the dishwasher, we went with a panel cover and used the appliance pull also from Schoolhouse.  Our simple but beautiful brushed brass faucet is by Krause and very affordable at Build.com.  Another great find from Build.com was our farmhouse sink which I absolutely love but wish I went bigger to be honest.

Our pendants are from Circa Lighting.  We chose the Garrett Wide Pendant in burnished brass which matched the hardware perfectly!

Our eat-in breakfast room where we have almost all of our meals is behind the island.  I’ve gone back and forth with the banquette in and out and since the kids like it, we decided to keep it!  We are obsessed with the beautiful reclaimed wood beams throughout our kitchen and if you even have a chance to incorporate, I suggest you do it!  I love the texture it adds to the space!  The lighting fixture is the Arturo 6-light round chandelier in driftwood at Ballard Designs – so is the Rosalind banquette & cushions in canvas gray sunbrella fabric – great for the kiddos!

We opened up the wall from the kitchen into the dining room to create one big open space and moved the refrigerator over and put in custom cabinets and open shelves to carry over and anchor both sides of the very large space (now 14x31)!  All of our Thermador appliances were purchased locally at Aitoro Appliances in Norwalk, CT.

Let’s talk countertops and tile!  The easiest decision I made was the countertops.  I knew I wanted carrara marble.  I worked with Sinan at Academy Marble and I cannot say enough great things about the service and quality if you are local!  A tip for you is to always ask your countertop company to create cutting boards with the extra material you have – I do this every time and it’s at no cost to you.  I had them make me (2) 14x14 cutting boards that I have at each side of the range.  Our backsplash tile was one of the hardest choices and I could not be happier with the dolomite marble herringbone tile from AKDO.

With a lot of white in the kitchen, I am happy that we decided to go with a gray island.  I also get a lot of questions on the color, it is Sherwin Williams pigeon gray.  I always add in a natural element to any space I design, so naturally the sun washed natural Rivera counter stools from Serena & Lily.

As you can see, when we took down the wall, we needed to replace and match the gorgeous existing white oak hardwood flooring. We were very fortunate to work again locally with the The Hudson Company. We were able to match the wood perfectly and once it was installed, I custom created the stain with my installer onsite – I wanted a driftwood look and we got it! Thanks to Rodrigo at True Way Floors. All of the new window and doorway casings and shiplap were created by Woodway Carpentry in CT. All of the painting is by Regal Line Painting, also in CT.
