sweet casual style – interior design

welcome back to sweet casual style!

please check out my latest project – the redesign of my living room!

my inspiration started with the big round bay mirror from Maine Cottage!

I ordered the white plantation shutters from budget blinds – so clean & fresh!

the “London” sofa & chair by Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams…purchased at my all time favorite store, Dovecote in Westport, CT.

I searched for a very long time to find pillows, and I fell in love with these Ryan Studio pillows from Fig Linens in Westport.

my beautiful friend Angela is in my favorite Serena & Lily chair – the Spruce Street chair in Fog Diamond. {love the nail head}

still searching for wall art above the Tatum media stand from Joss & Main.

fell in love with this white grasscloth table and Peg + Dick hand crafted decoupage plate from Dovecote.  I ordered a thick piece of glass to cover it so my son does not think it is a new canvas for his latest art project!  The succulent centerpiece is the perfect amount of green {I do not have a green thumb…} and Terrain in Westport {a store you must experience!} incorporated beautiful sea glass and stones throughout.  ♥  glass tea lights are from Simon Pearce.   I will always have Coastal Living magazine in this room because it always inspires me and keeps me dreaming!!  ♥

I ended up having the brick white washed and the fireplace painted white.  believe it or not, it used to be red brick and a honey stained fireplace …now I just love it.  Striped {indoor/outdoor} pouf in denim/ivory by Dash & Albert Rug Company.

I ended up getting the Palos Heights nesting tables from Joss & Main…my favorite new site for amazing finds for my home at incredible discounts!  If you aren’t familiar with Joss & Main – sign up!  They have events {sales} on the best brands!

gray rug and white pillows from Potterybarn.

I hope you enjoy this room as much as I do.  I have enjoyed “the search” for everything in this room!

Now onto the next project….stay tuned!  XO, Corry ♥

my heart breaks for this family…

two beautiful children, Lucia, 6, and little Leo, 2 – rest in peace…

I had to do a post on the Krim family and their terrible tragedy in losing their two beautiful children.  I do not know then but I am beyond devastated about this horrific news and I can’t get over it.  I was crying all morning – each time I see the photos of these innocent and beautiful children, my heart just breaks.  I have a son, Ben who is 2 and a half – close to Leo’s age and I cannot imagine ever losing him, in any way – let alone the way these children were taken from their family.  Typically, we hear news like this and then we move on with our lives and may even forget…I just can’t.  I was talking to a friend of mine this morning and she and her partner do not have children but they are heartbroken about this as well.  My husband who is a Sergeant for a local police department told me that terrible things happen everyday and I know that but for some reason, this is hitting me hard and I just simply cannot accept it.  I will just pray for them and give my son as much love as I can each & every second of everyday!!!

My heart and prayers are with Kevin, Marina, Nessie & their entire family.

are you reading this?

are you reading this?  I am about to celebrate the 2nd year of sweet casual style and I am thinking about making changes to the site and the content I share.  I can look at google analytics and see how many unique visitors I have to the site and which posts are the most popular but I still wonder, are you reading this and why?  I’ve had people I know or met that say they love my blog but I still  question a lot.  I wish I could get feedback from anyone who reads the blog to tell me what more you would want to see or read about.  I rarely get comments on the site and when I ran one of my first contests with a very cool company a few weeks ago {havaianas}…not a lot of people participated.  I do wonder why?  I have seen many other giveaways on other sites that get a huge response.  I was excited and very honored to be approached by havaianas to do this…but to be honest, I felt bad that it didn’t really get the response I hoped for – not for me but for them.  I share my posts on facebook and twitter but I don’t want to overwhelm people too much – again questioning a lot.

many people have asked me why I have this site and what I want to accomplish with the site.  I think that my answers today are very different from two years ago when I launched the site.  this site started with a couple goals in mind.  I wanted to have a creative outlet to share all of the ideas I have, products and stores I love and blogs and sites that inspire me {& hopefully you too}.  Another one of my first year goals was to have “sponsors” for the site because I thought that might be important because many other sites have many sponsors or ads running on their sites.  let me be very clear that I feature many different stores, products, sites and people I love for nothing in return.  I enjoy it and it is fun for me to connect with businesses, people, bloggers and designers I admire.  Now, you may find at the top of this page, there is a {shop} category.  This has been “coming soon” for two years now.  I did intend and still do want to open an online boutique.  Clearly, this would be an opportunity to not just share my favorite things but allow you to also purchase them!

You may also see another category named gratitude.  I wanted to have a forum to share people’s stories of gratitude and create a place to help others who may have experienced a tough time – no matter what that looks like.  from time to time, I have weaved this into some of my posts.  I have shared personal stories but sometimes I wonder if this is the forum to do that – but then I think to myself, this is my site {blog} and I can say and do what ever I want, right?  a blog is defined as, “A web site on which an individual or group of users record opinions, information, etc. on a regular basis.”  I just wonder at times if I am not clear or focused on what this site is and whether it makes sense for me to be a little all over the place {similar to the way this post is sounding – a little all over the place}!  I have so many ideas and so much to share.  I just need to get organized and focused and present it to all of you and see what you think.  I also have a lot of advice I want to share about marriage, being a working mom, family, friendships, etc and I am trying to figure out if that all makes sense to live here on this site…thoughts?

I would love to know if you are reading this.  I would love and I am asking for your feedback.  I have many readers from many different countries and I would love to hear what you want to see and what you want to know about.  I care.  I want to know what you are thinking.  thank you in advance for your comments and I promise to listen and incorporate what you want!  xo Corry

introducing the chirp shop!

Meet Chirp shop creator and owner, Adrienne Hofmann {below}!  We connected about a month ago and I am very excited to introduce her adorable and very special shop for little ones!  Adrienne describes her shop… “Chirp takes classic wardrobe staples and refreshes them, creating clothing for infants with a modern and unexpected twist that is both fun to buy and stylish to wear.

check out the sweet flamingo {pink} with floral collar polo!  loving the red chirp logo too!

polos come in newborn onesies all the way up to size 5/6 polo tees!

I ♥ the teeshirt tie!  comes in madras, floral, peace sign and cow…

I am buying this for Ben!  enjoy & shop!!  xo Corry

I love shoshanna

I ♥ Shoshanna.

I just bought these two dresses and these photos do not do them any justice.  I have several of her dresses actually because they are always the perfect fit and are so feminine and beautiful.  I just bought the The Bialik Print Renee dress today at my favorite store in Fairfield, CT, Snappy Gator.  This dress has the most incredible colors and it is probably the most comfortable style, ever.  I was wondering what I was going to wear with it and I love how she paired it with brown boots.

As I was looking on Shoshanna’s site, {click here}… I found the second dress.

This is probably the most classic dress you can find and it is timeless.  It is perfect for the holidays, work, a wedding, date night or out with friends.  You can dress it up or down but I just know I will have this dress for a very long time.  The best part is I got 20% off and Shoshanna is offering complimentary ground shipping!  Enjoy!  xo Corry
